Behaviorism
This section talks about Behaviorism and Social learning through your lifespan, I decided to focus on conditioning. There are two different learning styles that are used when in comes to behaviorism and they both have a cause and effect based on the “stimulus” and “response” that corresponds to the interaction of the individual and the environment in which the condition occurs. This is classical and operant.

I believe this is an effective thing to use in my planned career of education to understand what to do and what not to do. When it comes to reinforcements I want to award my students for good behavior as I believe that it is always good to announce the hard work your students are putting in as no one is perfect but just the fact they are listening and by you acknowledging that shows that you pay attention to your students and care about them. However, as an educator I want to know that it’s not for the award that they know that they are going to get for what they are doing is the reason for they are doing, but because it is an overall good as well as how it connects to outside the classroom. On the other hand, my goal is to limit punishment however, punishment is need when students do something wrong. But what I want to do with this is also, explain why what they are doing is wrong as we always punish students without telling them why and even if they don’t do it the reason why is because the got punished but don’t know the effect of in which doing it had on them. As well, while teaching in an urban community we punish students without getting an understanding of why they did with they have done.
Detailing my life of childhood to the point in which I am now of adolescence, there have been many operant conditioning that have to me in which shaped me in knowing what is right and wrong and how to repeat those same behaviors. I can see where Positive reinforcement was used to when it came to doing my homework when I was younger. Nobody likes doing homework at least from a young age but when I took the time to do my homework and do it correctly, I was able to enjoy leisure activities and other things I enjoyed for fun. Negative reinforcement is something I was impacted by for instance mainly in elementary school when students where rowdy, to calm them down the students who behaved did not have to do homework. As well I have been on the negative side of this as in punishment I when I misbehave my parents would whoop me to stop the recurring negative behaviors. As well I have seen in schools where detention is used to stop those behaviors. Lastly, punishment II, when me or my sister misbehaved our phones where take or I could not play video games for my punishment and ect. To shop the behavior for occurring.
Classical Condtioning
The first one would be Classical conditioning which was developed by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian Physiologist, in 1904. Going into detail of this study, it focuses primarily on involuntary responses using stimuli which creates theses responses. This experiment involves three phases of preconditioning, conditioning, and postconditioning. Preconditioning is basically the set up of the process as we have an unconditioned stimulus and an unconditioned response in which re are introduced to the neutral stimulus. When we combine the unconditioned stimulus with the neutral stimulus, we are introduced to a conditioning phase and after repeated practices we then reach the point where there is a conditioned stimulus and brings forward a condition response.

Operant Conditioning
operant conditioning associates the control of an individual to voluntary experiences giving reactions and how you want individuals to act based off consequences for what they have done. The reward and punishment systems are separated amongst reinforcements and punishments. Positive reinforcement consists of favorable incentives based on behaviors and negative reinforcements are taking away things that are unfavorable in which these both increase the behavior that is wanted. While on the other hand punishments decrease an unfavorable behavior. Punishment I involve the addition of unfavorable events to weaken the unfavorable behavior and punishment II takes away favorable outcomes to remove those behaviors.
Examples
-
Positive reinforcement deals with rewarding individuals something favorable because of a behavior. In which the incentive strengthens the reoccurrence of that behavior. An example of this would be a parent encouraging their child to complete their chores without being told to do so. As a result of this happening the child is compensated with an allowance.
-
Negative reinforcement is taking away something unfavorable in which, when the favorable behavior is enforced with the removal of an unpleasant stimulant. An example of this would be when a child follows their parents’ rules and show maturity, they are able to go out without a chaperone.
-
Punishment I involve using an unfavorable action or event in order to weaken a reoccurring behavior from happening. An example of this would be a child who uses profanity would be spanked to stop the reoccurring action from happening.
-
Punishment II involves removing a favorable action in order to stop the negative behaviors from occurring. An example of this would be when a child began to bring home bad grades from school, their cell phones were confiscated until improvements were mad.
